Many sports have been going on since summer break began such as, the two main soccer events, the Euros and Copa America and others, including the Olympics and more.
The Euros are a competition between all of the best international teams from Europe, such as Spain, England, France and more. The host nation was Germany and every single game took place in an array of cities there.
Germany, themselves, went to the quarterfinals at the tournament, but they lost to the eventual winners Spain in a highly controversial game. Spain won it all after defeating England in the final 2-1.
Spain had many star players on their team, but one stand out is Lamine Yamal who was only 16-years-old for most of the tournament, but turned 17 the day before the final. He is a young star from Football Club (FC) Barcelona who has been lighting up the world of soccer this past season. During the Euros tournament he scored one goal and had four assists which earned him the young player of the tournament award. Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante, although he is called Rodri, was another star for Spain and he won the player of the tournament award after some dominant performances from the midfielder.
Stars for England who lost in the final include Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane and more. They were the favorites before the tournament started and disappointed many by not winning it all.
The other favorite of the Euros before the tournament was France, who had Kylian Mbappe who recently transferred to Real Madrid. Even though Mbappe is an attacker, the most impressive part of the French team was their stout defense only allowing three goals the whole tournament.
The Copa America is the tournament of the South American teams and Argentina won it. The best player from Argentina is Lionel Messi who is one of the most famous and well known soccer players on the planet. He won what was most likely his final Copa America this year. Other star players from the Copa America include Lautauro Martinez, Ronald Araujo and more.
The Olympics were another major sporting event that occurred this summer and it included many superstars like Lebron James, Stephen Curry, Noah Lyles, Katie Ledecky and more. The United States of America came out on top in the end with the most medals and tied for the most gold medals. Many sporting events happened this summer and will give audiences and players many memories to cherish forever.
