The 2025 Teacher Fantasy Football league has come to an end with social studies teacher Gregory Field winning with a perfect record of 14 wins and no losses.
For context, fantasy football is another way to make football more interesting when watching. It encapsulates being the manager of your own team by allowing you to draft players, pick new ones up, make trades and make lineup decisions. Each week teams face off against each other and the winner is determined based on whose lineup did better that particular week. It goes from week one to 17 or 18 of the National Football League (NFL) season depending on the format of each league.
Field’s performance throughout the fantasy football season could not have gone much better as he scored the most points across the season and had a comfortable three win margin to second place during the regular season earning him the first round bye.
The overall playoff bracket consisted of three rounds, starting with the quarterfinals, semifinals and ending with the final. The first and second placed teams got a first round bye, meaning that they automatically advanced to the semifinals without having to play anybody. Those two teams ended up being the two teams in the final round.
Field got the victory in the final over visual and performing arts teacher Kevin Thurow with a score of 163-108. Meanwhile, english teacher Melissa Gregorio beat social studies teacher Devon Knadle in the third place game with a score of 139-94.
Other playoff matches include Gregorio beating counseling office member Jesus Contreras in the quarter finals with a score of 101-93 which was the closest matchup of the playoffs. Knadle beat social studies teacher Albert Vazquez 142-106 also in the quarterfinals. The semi finals saw Field beat Knadle 132-123 and in the other semifinals game Thurow claimed victory against Gregorio with a final score of 158-100.
The main attraction for students of the fantasy football season is the last place punishment of being on the stage during lunch with a sign that states “I am really bad at fantasy football,” and tubas playing background music. The last place finisher ended up being social studies teacher Aaron De La Torre with a record of two wins and 12 losses and scoring the least points out of anyone by far. The second to last place team, science teacher Mark Sakaguchi had three more wins and had 161 more total points than him across the course of the season.
This punishment allowed all the students to see him bask in the shame of finishing in last place for the entirety of lunch. It was a laughing moment for the school that unified the students to enjoy themselves and a great event on one of the first weeks of the school year.
