As of 2025, President Donald J. Trump and his administration have worked tirelessly to execute their goal of deporting United States residents without legal documentation, resulting in the murders of innocent Americans.
Jan. 7, the internet exploded into a spirited outrage at the video footage of a mother in her car–Renee Good–being shot in the face four times by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer Jonathan Ross. Good’s wife Becca bore witness to the murder that took place while their six-year-old son was at school. While Make America Great Again (MAGA) members and sympathizers have found Becca Good to have been antagonistic towards Ross and Renee Good to have attempted to hit Ross with her car, other Americans nationwide have found this to be an egregious crime and abuse of power on the part of ICE and President Trump.
More recently, too, intensive care unit (ICU) nurse Alex Pretti was murdered on camera by ICE agents for intervening in ICE’s bullying of women peacefully protesting. Ten shots were fired at Pretti at close range, leaving an ICU nurse dead for practicing America’s constitutionally-afforded rights. Pretti, although legally licensed to be armed with the gun he had brought to the protest, was disarmed before being shot and killed, sparking discourse throughout the nation about whether or not Pretti deserved his fate.
These tragedies, however, were not the first to occur. Keith Porter Jr. was murdered in Northridge by an off-duty ICE agent on New Year’s Day, leaving his 20-year-old daughter without a father. His daughter Aniyah Porter has taken to social media platforms to express her grief and raise awareness for the tragedy of her father’s murder.
Many others have lost their lives to the cruelty of ICE agents’ anti-immigration agenda, but this is not the first time Americans have been the target of police brutality. These tragedies were not the first nor will they be the last, and these deaths have cast a dark shadow on the minds and hearts of Americans who want to have hope in their country.
