The school’s choir program went to San Francisco, March 9-11, to perform at Grace Cathedral and attend a choral festival to learn and meet other choirs from across the state.
“The trip was for a choral festival that Encantado and Camerata were invited to sing at in the Grace Cathedral,” junior Gianna Buondelmonte said. “Singing in a cathedral was amazing. Everyone sounded heavenly.”
During their trip to San Francisco, two of the school’s choral groups were invited to sing in Grace Cathedral with an original song and were able to get feedback from adjudicators watching all the performances.
“I learned a lot about, not only how to better sing and perform, but how important the bond of a group is to work as best as you possibly can,” senior Estie Shmilovich said. “I feel like this group has developed a really strong bond.”
While they did attend a choral festival to learn more about performing, the group also got to sightsee around the city. From Alcatraz to Chinatown, and Pier 39, the choir got to see much of the iconic city together.
“My favorite part was probably the bonding and spending time with my friends and fellow choir members in the hotel and around the city,” Shmilovich said.
Over the three day long trip, the choir got to learn from the best and perform on a grand stage. Most of all, the students got the opportunity to bond during their time in San Francisco, and together they created an even closer group.
“It’s hard to say what my favorite part was, because I loved all of the parts of the trip,” Buondelmonte said. “I really enjoyed the piers and going through Alcatraz, but also hanging out with my friends. I also love all the songs we performed, but one of them always stands out to me, called ‘There Will Be Rest.’ I may be a bit dramatic but every time I get to hear it it brings me to tears.”
