When students came back to the school from winter break Jan. 14, many were surprised to see new hallway decorations and had mixed feelings about it.
“I do believe that it brought a little something to the school, and campus beautification is always a good thing,” history teacher Devon Knadle said. “It’s nice we are putting a little bit of money back into the school. It makes it seem like the administration and [the school] as a whole care about their students and want the school to look better and feel better.”
The school recently added bright colored decorations with the subject names. For some students, this helps them find their classes, while others aren’t so fond of the decorations and feel the school should be using its resources on other things.
“I feel like it could’ve been better, though the subjects help me find my classes,” freshman Malak Faroug said. “I think they should be using their money to create a pool for swimmers who don’t have access to pools. It helps the school look more like a learning environment.”
This isn’t the first time the school has made changes to their buildings. They made a big remodeling change to the school during summer break, showing that they are continuously improving the school.
“I think they should invest in equipment for the Arts classes such as film, since we don’t have any equipment from the school so what we can do is limited,” junior Kailani Mercury said.
With the mixed opinions regarding the renovations, the school frequently shows that they care about their students by remodeling areas of the school to bring a sense of joy to students. Brightening up the school with decorations is a great way to make the school feel like a better place and to encourage new enrollment from possible student’s and their parents that might take a tour at the school.
“It’s definitely encouraging because my mentality is that if your school looks good you do good,” Mercury said.
