The school’s girls tennis team has had another successful season, with a record of 36-11, and they are looking to continue that into the rest of the season.
“I feel like [the season has] gone pretty good,” junior Jessica Winthrop said. “We’ve won mostly every game and we’ve had a very positive season.”
The tennis season’s success has had star performances in which they outplayed other schools with their teamwork and unbreakable spirit to succeed.
“[My highlight of the season] was probably the match against Chatsworth,” junior Charlotte Krause said. “There was this really close match where we lost the first set and won the second. Then we took them to a tie break when it was 9-11 and [finally] we beat them 11-9.”
The team’s performances created many memories for the players, allowing them to remember the team and the season for a long time. Their strong bonds and relationships allowed for a very positive and supporting environment helping the team further succeed.
“[My favorite part of the season was] probably the bus rides or when you play music and everyone’s really hype,” sophomore Neha Voodi said. “The team is so fun because everyone is so nice and always has so much energy.”
The unwavering support within the girls tennis team has permitted them to bond greatly and create long-lasting friendships that they would not have created otherwise.
“I think [the team] is great, we are all just like a family and everyone is so nice,” Voodi said. “Everyone is super close and everyone has fun all the time.”
The chemistry within the team keeps everyone motivated and encouraged to better themselves, constantly helping them to grow and improve as well.
“[What I want to improve personally] is accuracy [when hitting the ball] that includes the whole team too, just in general accuracy because you know once you improve accuracy you just improve your whole way of play,” Krause said.
Improving on the tennis courts brings the whole team together to play against other teams and win countless matches. The team’s strength comes from one another and they have
found that it is the backbone to their growth, success and victory.
“Coach keeps us going,” Winthrop said. “We all motivate each other, we clap for each other, and we scream at each other.”
