The school has five new teacher additions this year, and they are all excited for this year, bringing their own unique qualities to the school.
Each teacher at the school has had different experiences in the past, but are excited to be here now. Some come from years of experience while others have as short as 3 years working as an educator. The new teachers cover many different areas, from English to Film to Study Skills, and they are a great asset to have at our school.
“[El Camino] has a reputation for excellence—and this is just as true today as when I went to school here!” Christopher Howell said. “I graduated from [El Camino] in 2007.”
Howell is one of the new teachers here at our school. Coming from a background of four years in the education field, he has many hopes for his first year at a new school.
The first few weeks of school have been busy for both students and teachers alike, and it’s been an overwhelming journey for everyone.
“I have had fun getting to know everyone.” Chris Mcadamis said. “Any new job is challenging because of new technology to learn and procedures to get used to.”
Mcadamis is a new addition to the school’s English department, and he has been teaching for twenty years.
Each new experience requires patience and learning, and each teacher has enjoyed the work it takes to get acclimated to a new environment.
“The first couple of weeks have been great, connecting with different staff and students,” Daniel Osorio said. “[They] have made me feel right at home.”
The school’s campus has been especially astonishing for the new teachers. From the social to the physical aspects, the school seems to be a dream come true.
“The school’s location is prime for those looking for a bridge into either higher college education in film” Howell said. “Or directly into various film industry opportunities as well.” Howell hopes to help foster the film program here at El Camino.
The community at the school is one that inspires many, and it’s easy to create a close bond with fellow staff and students.
“One of the nice things about [this school] is that the staff—the teachers and administrators—seem to look out for and support each other.” Osorio said. “I missed that at my previous schools.”
To be at this school has made the teacher’s careers feel much brighter, and they are excited to make a lasting impression. As the school year progresses, the new teachers at the school are eager to amplify their student’s creativity and intelligence.
“My hope is to inspire the next generation of dream chasers and storytellers,” Osorio said. “Through their unique voices and diverse stories, they can inspire and positively impact their generation.”
