Embarking on yet another year of magic, the annual fan event, Disney 23 (D23) Expo, was held at the Anaheim Convention Center and the Honda Center, Aug. 9 to Aug. 11, 2024.
With a completely sold out event, fans gathered to enjoy exciting panels hosted by various Disney actors, as well as photo opportunities, freebies and more. The announcements were the highlights of each night, as different actors presented new movies and other exciting projects.
In the realm of the Walt Disney World, Florida, a variety of themed lands were announced to be built. Those included a Villians Land in the Magic Kingdom, a Monster’s Incorporated Land in Hollywood Studios and a Cars Land in Frontierland inside the Magic Kingdom.
Additionally, a brand new parade will be heading to the park by the name of “Disney Starlight”, which will feature characters from “Peter Pan,” “Frozen,” “Encanto” and more. An exciting “Zootopia” show will also be coming to Disney Animal Kingdom’s Tree of Life Theater in winter 2025.
New stand-alone rides coming to Walt Disney World include an “Encanto” ride and a brand new story-themed ride featuring “Indiana Jones.” Lastly, there will also be a brand new “Pirates of the Caribbean” themed lounge in the Magic Kingdom.
In addition to all of the exciting new projects coming to Walt Disney World, California’s Disneyland will also be getting some exciting new rides. Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus will be going through a major expansion, almost doubling it in size. Two new rides will be added, one featuring a multi-world adventure in the Avengers Multiverse and the other will be Stark’s Flight Lab, where Mr. Tony Stark from the Avenger franchise will take riders on a test flight.
A thrilling new “Coco” themed ride will also be coming to Disney California Adventure and a brand new Avatar experience inspired by the old and upcoming Avatar films.
Throughout the D23 event, brand-new and returning films were announced to Disney fans. Returning films include “Moana 2,” “Toy Story 5,” “Incredibles 3,” “Frozen 3,” “Zootopia 2,” and more exciting returns.
A large assortment of new films will also be coming to theaters, such as the live-action “Snow White,” the live-action “Lilo and Stitch,” a new Star Wars film called “Skeleton Crew,” a new spinoff television series to the hit show “Wandavision,” called “Agatha All Along,” an animated movie called “Win or Lose,” and many more exciting new movies and tv series.
In the upcoming years, fans will continue to see amazing new projects and entertainment that Disney has in store for them.
