As seniors raced from activity to activity at MB2 Entertainment, the school’s annual tradition, Senior Getaway
Sept. 16, was a massive success.
“I thought it was such a good event,” senior Sophia Saravia said. “I really liked the location of it. I think MB2 was such a good spot to do it at, and I haven’t heard any negative comments about getaway at all. I think a lot of people had a lot of fun.”
This year’s Senior Getaway event was held at MB2 Entertainment, a huge location with various different activities for seniors. There was go-karting, bumper boats, laser tag, bowling and an arcade all for students to enjoy with their friends.
“The bumper boats [were my favorite activity],” senior A’riyah Whitaker said. “We got to soak each other in water, and we would even cheat and just take the water from the pool and splash on each other. We were drenched for the rest of the night.”
The seniors at the event had fun spending time with the friends they have made over their four years at school. The bumper boats were a popular attraction for many, from spraying friends to soaking them, creating memorable moments for the class of 2026.
“[I enjoyed] spending time with my friends and being competitive with the go-karts,” Saravia said. “We’ve always wanted to do that, so being able to do it through a school event was even more fun because there were so many people that we knew.”
The event even became a uniting force for the senior class, drawing friend groups together as they bonded over the event that would soon become a memory.
“Getting to spend time with my friends during Senior Getaway really reminded me of how our high school experience is coming to a close,” senior Aarna Uppal said. “I really wanted to take it all in and make the most of the experience.”
Because this event was meant to celebrate seniors’ last year at the school, student council members worked to create an unforgettable experience that seniors would remember for years to come.
“The planning process required a lot of patience,” senior Dylan Barajas said. “Permission slips always take a bit to process, but it was worth it for sure.”
Every year the event is planned by two members of senior cabinet, with this year’s Senior Getaway being planned by Barajas and senior Victoria Matz. The planning process includes picking the venue and activities, as well as coordinating permission slips and buses for the event.
“I never really saw people just sitting around with nothing to do,” Whitaker said. “I feel like everyone was able to keep themselves entertained and I believe that’s a big thing. We were there for a really long time, so being able to manage that and set that up is very impressive.”
Overall, Senior Getaway was a hit among the seniors that went. For the rest of the year, students will be reminiscing about the time they got to spend together crashing their go-karts and hanging out under the neon lights of the arcade.
“I can’t wait for the many upcoming senior events that are in store for us,” Uppal said. “I really hope to make the last year the best year.”
