This summer has brought about many well-liked contributions to the music industry, and consumers have been pleased with the plethora of new music they’ve been able to select from these past months.
The month of June kicked off the hot season with even hotter releases from many well-renowned artists. Korean pop group ENHYPEN released their sixth mini album “DESIRE: UNLEASH.” The eight track album performed phenomenally during its run, hitting number three on the Billboard 200 and number on the iTunes Album Chart internationally.
The global girl group KATSEYE released “BEAUTIFUL CHAOS,” their second mini album. The album set them at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and their song “Gnarly” got the group on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is paired with a choreographed dance that has since gone viral on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
At the pinnacle of summer, even more artists dropped fan-favorite releases in July. Alternative indie artist Alex G released “Headlights” July 18, an album containing songs he will be playing live during his tour beginning Sept. 10 in Boston, MA. Additionally, mainstream rapper Tyler, the Creator released “Don’t Tap the Glass” July 21, which had a wide variety of reactions, most of which were positive.
From this new album, the tracks “Mommanem,” “Ring Ring Ring” and “Sugar on My Tongue” have topped charts, snippets of the songs becoming popular audio usages for the large majority of TikTok and other social media users.
As the summer months died down, there were more releases to commemorate the slow transition to the fall. Ethel Cain released an additional Americana album “Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You” Aug. 8. Not long thereafter, famed pop artist Conan Gray released his album “Wishbone” Aug. 15. In light of this release, Gray is kicking off his “Wishbone Pajama Show” tour Sept. 11 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH., a date that will include a performance with singer Hemlocke Springs, a rising star.
Most recently, however, illustrious pop star Sabrina Carpenter released “Man’s Best Friend” Aug. 29, a release that has been widely regarded as a fan-favorite and a media-favorite across various social media platforms.
As this year wraps up, the remaining months are sure to bring more well-favored music releases, and it is a sure thing that more of these releases will continue to release next year and in years to come.
