Taylor Swift announced her twelfth original studio album, titled “The Life of a Showgirl,” Aug. 13, during an episode of the “New Heights” podcast with Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce.
The new album is expected to be about the behind the scenes reality of The Eras Tour, as the name suggests. During the tour, Swift was balancing her personal life with a heavy profession – al load, which is reflected in the 12 singles on the album.
Swift is known for her elaborate and extremely well-thought-out announcements, and this new album is no exception. Swift’s official website included what many fans call an easter egg, featuring an orange countdown clock that expired at 12:12 a.m. exactly, correlating with the album’s number in her discography and the number of songs on it.
The website and podcast were not the only ways the album was announced. On Swift’s official Instagram page, a post can be found that included photos out of her normal comfort zone, leaving many thinking that this album will be very different from her previous releases.
Swift has done something different this time around, announcing the names of the singles already. The album will include songs called “Father Figure,” “CANCELLED!” and “Ruin The Friendship” to name a few. The list also included “The Life of a Showgirl (Feat. Sabrina Carpenter).” Carpenter and Swift have created a tight bond from the Era’s Tour, with Carpenter being the opening performer for many of Swift’s performances.
The album is set to be released Oct. 3, and in typical Swift fashion, the release date has significance as well. The date adds up to her lucky number thirteen and Swift has said herself that she is always going to try to force a 13 into different situations.
Oct. 3 is also none other than National Boyfriend Day and for Swift, that might mean something bigger now. The artist recently got engaged to Kelce after dating for two years. One song on the track is titled “Actually Romantic,” and many think this single will be about her and Kelce.
With the announcement of “The Life of a Showgirl” along with her recent engagement, Swift is definitely capturing the attention of fans everywhere, both personally and professionally.
