The 67th Annual Grammy Awards, a dazzling night of awards in the music industry, was held Feb. 2, at the Crypto.com Arena. The highlight of the night, Album of the Year, was awarded to Beyoncé for her album, “Cowboy Carter.” Controversy struck the internet as fans of other artists like Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and others were left disappointed. Many did not believe Beyoncé´s album was as popular as its award claimed it was. Other highlights included Sabrina Carpenter´s “Short n’ Sweet,” which won “Best Pop Vocal Album” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” which won “Song of the Year.” However, many Eilish fans were left in shock after the singer won zero out of the seven categories that she was up for, once again stirring up controversy within the Academy. Throughout the golden night, there were 18 performances, which included songs by popular artists Eilish, Carpenter, Doechii, Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Stevie Wonder and more. One performance had all nominees for “Best New Artist” perform their most popular songs from the past year. The most surprising performance, though, was the stage performance by The Weeknd, who in previous years had sworn to boycott the award show. Tensions eased and the board of the Grammys made amends with the artist, leading to his performance of “Cry for Me” and “Timeless” from his new record. As always, the Grammys held an “In Memoriam” section of the show with Chris Martin, from Coldplay, as well as other performers like Cynthia Erivo performing. The beginning of the segment featured a few clips of late singer Liam Payne, with his former bandmates in One Direction, as a tribute to honor his legacy. The red carpet to the Grammys was as star-studded as ever, with big names in music and fashion filling the stadium. Stars like Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Swift, Roan and more were spotted posing for paparazzi and journalists. Carpenter was donning a long, elegant, pale blue dress with her hair in a beautiful updo. Rodrigo was seen in a simple black dress and Swift was in a sparkly red dress, which added to her fans’ excitement regarding the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” Other celebrities and stars were stopped along the carpet to discuss plans of future music releases and general plans for the near future in their music careers. The Grammys was held at a difficult time for Californians, with the recent wildfires ravaging the city just a few weeks before. Throughout the entire show, announcer Trevor Noah was urging celebrities, companies and people at home to donate whatever they could to help rebuild Southern California. After seven decades of the Grammys, another sparkling night was hosted, leaving fans with an even bigger and better night than they had hoped for.
