During this month the school had two special events that focused on expressing student’s creativity and artistry, the the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) fall festival Oct. 8, and the Local Vocals Fall Showcase Oct. 16.
“Mrs. Brennan was honestly an angel and definitely helped contribute to this creation of the showcase,” junior Charlotte Krause said. “That also includes the art teachers and the students as well. Everyone who participated worked really hard to make everything become a reality.”
The VAPA and Local Vocal showcase both took a lot of hard work and dedication of many young and capable artists; and their great teachers to help prepare and display their best to those who came to support it.
“It was truly incredible to see how many activities as well as how many students seamlessly worked together,” senior Charles Lombard said. “It was clear that all students had been previously informed about the schedule and roles of the showcase.”
Although the process was long and time consuming, the end-results were worth it and many members, participants and supporters express how they feel the same way. The outcome outweighed the entire process of making this happen.
“I felt a lot of joy in the performances because performing and watching people enjoy it is definitely something you can’t pay people to do,” Krause said.
The inspiration and beauty that these events brought were immeasurable in size and impact. It brought people together as they understood the significance of others’ art.
“It was very inspiring to be part of this monumental and charitable event, I felt the creative juices fill the room and was honored to be part of it,” Lomard said. “I am in awe of the skills and talent I have been blessed to witness.”
On top of the flawless execution of these events students loved the various forms of entertainment within them and the happiness they brought. There were so many different fun activities such as tarot reading, student businesses, the Camerata performance, the jazz band performance, various singer and musician performances and the performance of the Drama Teachers Association of Southern California (DTASC) Puffs, among others.
“I believe that events like these are important to the school as they show how the school has a place for every student, whether that be sports, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) or VAPA,” Sophomore Giovanni Gumbiner said.
