Seniors filled Corbin Bowl, Oct. 29, to celebrate Senior Halloween Night, have fun with friends and find out who won the highly anticipated senior superlatives.
“We came up with Senior Halloween Night because we wanted to have a fun event near Halloween where seniors could dress up,” senior event coordinator Ava McDonald said. “We thought Corbin Bowl was a great place to host the event since there was an arcade, food, drinks [and] bowling.”
Senior Halloween Night was an event for the 12th graders to dress up and enjoy their final year of high school. During the night they got to play games and go bowling, but the main event circled around hearing the winners of senior superlatives and getting to watch a sneak peek performance from the Mr. El Camino boys.
“I [was] most excited to see the entire event come together, but more specifically everyone’s reactions to the superlatives and the Mr. El Camino performance,” senior event coordinator Nimran Singh said. “It was a very memorable time for them this year.”
Seniors were decked out in their Halloween costumes from Deadpool to Scooby-Doo, adding a spooky feel to the night. Excitement grew as people grabbed food from the loaded buffet, sang along to music and bowled with their friends.
“[The best part was] definitely the friends that were there. We were all having a good time, and it was just a really fun experience overall,” senior Saaed Tamim said.
Many seniors were waiting in anticipation for the night’s highlight–the Mr. El Camino performance. While performing their sneak-peek dance, seniors were screaming and cheering for their friends, impressed by their bold and well-choreographed dance moves.
“I decided to do Mr. El Camino because I want to have the best senior year possible and why not try everything,” senior Mehki Macias said.
Along with the performance, seniors brought a supportive and uplifting attitude for all the senior superlatives winners. Some include Best Couple: Isabelle Smith and Miles Dukhovny, Best smile: Riya Mistry and Tatiana Reynoso and Best dancer: Nora Vargas and Brooklyn Piano.
“[My favorite part of the night] was probably getting the superlatives,” Macias said.
As seniors thoroughly enjoyed their night of spooky festivities, student council members got to see their planning in action. They had to talk to previous Halloween Night planners to get inspiration, contact Corbin Bowl and continuously publicize the event to spread the word. On top of that, student council also had to prepare everything for senior superlatives, including advertising the vote and finding the winners.
“We [were] most excited to see everyone having a great time at the event,” McDonald said. “But we were also excited [to see] how all of our hard work paid off.”
Along with student council, the Mr. El Camino Boys have been working hard to prepare for their event and the preview.
“We practiced really hard for the event,” Tamim said. “I think we all did really good. [Plus], I think it was really productive when we practiced. We worked really hard on Wednesdays and we didn’t waste any time. We got straight to the point.”
Senior Halloween Night was just one of many fun events for seniors this year. The lively atmosphere helped build memories for students’ final year at the school. While this event was just for seniors, student council will have more activities for everyone both in and out of school.
“You should definitely be excited for the upcoming talent show that [the Mr. El Camino Boys are] all doing,” Tamim said. “We’re going to all show our talents and do very exciting things, you should really come out and see us.”
