In the midst of the spooky autumn season, many restaurant chains have created unique halloween and fall themed menu items.
As trending on social media, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse’s Spooky Pizookie was a major hit. With its delectable cookies-and-cream cookie base, velvety, orange colored vanilla ice cream and a delicious chocolate shell, the flavors amalgamate perfectly together, making a mouth-watering treat. Since it’s a limited time deal, many are sad to see the succulent treat leave the menu until next year.
Fast food chain Burger King also released a special Halloween menu based on “The Addams Family” and its characters. They had Wednesday’s Whopper, Thing’s Rings, Gomez’s Churro Fries and Morticia’s Kooky Chocolate Shake. Wednesday’s Whopper wasn’t anything special, despite its purple colored bun. It tasted like a standard Whopper, leaving many disappointed as they had expected more. Similarly, the other items on the menu only had a few changes to suit the theme, some only with different packaging, which was very unexciting for the spooky season.
Burger King wasn’t the only fast food restaurant to add limited-time Halloween items. McDonalds has also joined in on the trend, with the return of the long-awaited special Happy Meals that are named Boo Buckets. However, the meal only comes with Halloween stickers and a trick-or-treat bucket. The contents of food remain the same as a happy meal which is why they don’t impress or appeal to some customers. If there was a distinct Halloween or autumn treat, then opinions may have been different.
In addition to their weekly changing flavors, Crumbl Cookies has also released some fall themed flavors for the autumn season. Their chilled Maple Cream Sandwich tasted just like maple syrup with an excessive amount of cream filling inside. Both the outside cookie and cream’s flavors were overpowered by its extreme sweetness, making it a very mediocre cookie. While the maple cookie wasn’t very impressive, the Caramel Apple cookie was by far the best cookie that Crumbl has included in their lineups over the past few months. Its perfect touch of sweet caramel coupled with freshly cut apples created an absolutely perfect texture and scrumptious taste. It tasted identical to an actual caramel apple, making it the ideal cookie.
As the Halloween season comes to an end, many people are disappointed that these items will leave the menu, however, they also look forward to future themed items.
