As clubs have begun to reopen and attract attention again, this spring semester’s club rush took place May 2, with lots of success.
“Club rush is one of the biggest events of the year where clubs promote themselves and fundraise by selling food and snacks,” club director junior Negeen Notghi said. “It’s a high energy day that brings the whole campus together and encourages students to explore new interests. It really showcases the spirit of our school.”
Various clubs, including Black Student Union, Relay for Life, Local Vocals, Backing the Brave and more, were able to run tables raising money and encouraging other students to join. Students quickly lined up to purchase food, especially takeout items from fast food restaurants, helping these clubs display themselves to a larger audience.
“My favorite part is seeing students step out of their comfort zones and get involved,” Notghi said. “Watching clubs proudly represent themselves and seeing the campus so alive with energy and connection is the best feeling. It reminds me why student leadership matters.”
The event was run by the student council, specifically the directors of clubs, Notghi and junior Aaron Sanfir. Their hard work, despite the challenges they faced to put on the event paid off, as school spirit thrived and many students were satisfied with the outcome.
“Planning [club rush] was quite an intricate process, especially through the communication,” Sanfir said. “But, the process went smoothly, as the club presidents were very cooperative and easy to work with.”
Notghi and Sanfir worked together to communicate with every club on campus, which was more than 80 in total. Their communication with each other, students at school, along with administration led to the event being extremely successful.
“I feel that the event went great,” Sanfir said. “All club presidents were able to fundraise and promote effectively, and the student body as a whole showed a great deal of enjoyment for the event overall.”
As new clubs continue to grow throughout the years, club rush remains a very important and spirited event on campus that many students enjoy. It truly encompasses the amount of dedication and passion that the student body carries.
“I think it was a huge success. Clubs raised money, students got involved, and the campus felt more united,” Notghi said. “The energy, teamwork, and excitement throughout the event really proved how powerful student-run events can be.”
