With every amazing event planned at the school, from pep rallies to class competitions, Student Council has worked incredibly hard to ensure each student has a memorable experience during their high school years.
“I decided to join Student Council because I wanted to become more involved within our school and to have an impact on our school culture,” junior student body vice president Sophia Saravia said.
Student Council offers students an opportunity to be involved in the school community through their school spirit and activities. Within the program, each member is allowed to see the process that is taken for every event that is enjoyed by students and staff.
“Once I got into the class [freshman year] and I got to see the behind the scenes of how everything was planned for events, I got really interested and I ended up staying for three more years,” junior student body treasurer Taye Sangkhae said.
Student Council is also responsible for the posters that line the school hallways when there is a major school event like Prom or Homecoming. Along with posters, Student Council also plans each pep rally to highlight different sports and groups on campus.
“One of my favorite events we planned was the blackout pep rally during the first semester,” Sangkhae said. “We had lights off in the gym and a pep rally for a bunch of different groups on campus.
Being involved in Student Council gives students the opportunity to form long lasting friendships with several people, as well as become more involved and connected to the school
“The thing I enjoy most about student council is the bonds that you grow not only with your peers, but with staff as well,” Saravia said. “These connections are so valuable and I have created so many wonderful relationships that will last a lifetime.”
The program is hard at work daily, with each member in a different committee, they are always busy in order to guarantee an unforgettable year for everyone at school.
“Student Council has genuinely become my family and I just love being a part of such a great group of leaders,” Saravia said.
