Tate McRae’s third studio album, “So Close To What,” was released Feb. 21, 2025, with 16 pop hits, including one bonus track. The album comes third in her album lineage, after her first album, “I Used To Think I Could Fly,” released May 27, 2022 and her second album, “Think Later,” which was released Dec. 8, 2023. The well-written and stylistically crafted album consisted of fan favorite songs like “Revolving Door,” “Miss Possessive,” “bloodonmyhands ft. Flo Milli,” “I know love ft. The Kid LAROI” and more. McRae released music videos for the songs, “2 hands,” “Revolving Door,” “I know love,” “Its ok Im ok” and “Sports Car.” All of the videos were accompanied by intricately choreographed dance breaks and sequences performed by McRae herself alongside other side dancers. These dances have broken the internet, and platforms like TikTok, with a great portion of these dances becoming trends. McRae’s third studio album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 list, making it her first chart-topping release in the United States. Alongside her recognitions among different ranks and from other famous artists, she has made appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Saturday Night Live,” performing her iconic dances along with skits about her new album. McRae, a 21-year-old singer-songwriter and renowned dancer, began releasing music at the young age of 14 on YouTube. Prior to releasing music, however, McRae was recognized for her beautiful and hypnotizing dancing on the show, “So You Think You Can Dance,” ultimately finishing the show in third place. After releasing her first debut extended play (EP), “All the Things I Never Said,” in 2020, her music launched into the world and instantly became a hit. In addition to the release of the new album, McRae also announced a world tour, with dates ranging from North America to Europe to South America. Starting March 18, 2025 and concluding Nov. 8, 2025 at Los Angeles’ very own Kia Forum. While fans are ecstatic for her tour, some did not survive the Ticketmaster “war” and were left disappointed and ticketless, while the rest were left with tickets to see the pop sensation in concert. As McRae basks in her stardom and continues to rise to the top of Hollywood and the music industry, fans will continue to support and await more of the brilliant music she produces.
