Pop singer Marina Diamandis announced the release of her new album’s single “Butterfly” Feb. 4. Diamandis is well known for her sophomore album “Electra Heart,” which was released in 2012, as well as many other hits from her primary album, “The Family Jewels.” Three years after the release of her third album “Froot,” Diamandis changed her stage name from “Marina and the Diamonds” to “MARINA,” marking a new step in her career before releasing the album “Love + Fear” the following year. Despite having nearly 10 million monthly listeners, Diamandis has a strange relationship with her fame in that she is not necessarily recognized as a prominent celebrity. Still, Diamonds, the name given to the fans, eagerly await her new album. While the album does not currently have a confirmed title, Diamonds have been awaiting a release date for her sixth studio album. Referred to as “M6,” her album has been in the works since summer of 2024, which Diamandis teased by making an Instagram post captioned “IN CHRYSALIS,” exciting fans worldwide. Having been five years since the release of her fifth studio album “Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land,” Diamonds were pleasantly surprised with the announcement of M6’s single “Butterfly,” which is set to release Friday, Feb. 21. While the album will be released in the same time frame as her upcoming poetry book titled “Eat The World,” Diamandis emphasized that the two projects are entirely separate from one another. In the London venue during her tour in 2022, Diamandis announced that “Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land” will have been her last album with Atlantic Records after having been signed with them for the last 14 years. Diamandis expressed excitement about not renewing her contract with the record label and being able to release an album independent from them. While Diamonds may not know what to expect for Diamandis’ first independent album, it is safe to say they are nothing short of excited to discover her new music.
