The fan favorite show, “Severance,” released the first episode of their highly anticipated second season Jan. 17, with a new episode coming out every Friday.
“Severance,” which was first released in 2022 is a series about everyday citizens who work at Lumen Industries, where they undergo a surgical procedure that divides their memory between their work and personal life. Their work selves feel trapped in the office during the day, never seeing the sky or knowing if they have a family with kids. Meanwhile, their personal selves stay at home at night, unaware of what they do at work or whether they enjoy it.
Season one ends off with the workers executing a plan to wake their work selves at home in order to discover what their supervisors have been hiding from them and find out the other half of their life. Mark, the main character of the series who is played by Adam Scott, finds out that his supposedly dead wife in his personal life is someone he has seen at the office. Just as he tells his sister with no context that she’s alive, they get caught, and the switch is reversed.
Since the soul-crushing cliffhanger that ended season one, fans have been anticipating season two for three years.
The first episode of season two leaves more unanswered questions as it seems Mark is back to his original tired self in his cubicle and most of his colleagues who were in on the plan avoid communicating what happened. Although, the second episode released the following week shows the aftermath of what happened after the ending of season one, giving more clarity to viewers as to how they get there in the first episode.
As the season progresses, viewers can expect even more twists and turns and deeper looks into the world of Lumen Industries. With the show’s signature eerie atmosphere and unique cinematography, season two looks promising with the main characters beginning to understand the mysteries of the story. Fans are also eager to see how the relationship between Mark will be impacted.
With each passing week, Severance continues to keep fans eager for more answers with each new episode.
