As the boys tennis season begins early February, the team is excited to continue practicing and are motivated to win, while working together with the help of their coach, Jason Grider.
“I think we are going to have a really good season,” senior Tristan Tran said. “We’re probably going to get closer to a championship that we have in the past few years. We have been working really hard, and we’re better than we have ever been.”
The team has put in a lot of hard work practicing for the start of the season. They practice everyday from sixth period until 4:30, doing conditioning and drills; they always make sure to do their best.
“I practice everyday and I work really hard. I do push ups, sit ups, burpees and sprints,” junior Roman Mosavi said.
The team puts in their best effort along with the help of Coach Grider, who motivates and pushes them to do their best. In his two years of coaching tennis, he’s helped the athletes to succeed.
“He’s a great guy, and he really knows what he’s doing,” sophomore Max Chelin said. “He provides the team with assistance and important skills to learn to play tennis.”
Grider’s guidance towards the team has helped them develop strong team chemistry. Every player on the team enjoys being together and supporting each other on and off the court.
“My favorite part about the season is spending time with my teammates on the court,” Mosavi said.
The returning players have grown closer after spending their previous season’s together, but the foreign exchange students are starting to bring something new to the table, with many of them playing for several years.
“I think we will win, especially because of the exchange students,” Chelin said.
The athletes are excited about the new players and also the success they are working towards as a team.
“My favorite part of the season is winning and having a good time with people I can make connections with,” Chelin said.
