Three years since the release of season one, the first three episodes of “Arcane” were released Saturday, Nov. 9.
“Arcane” is an animated series based off of the characters and lore in the video game “League of Legends.” Season one was initially released Nov. 6, 2021 and followed the tense relationship between older sister Violet and younger sister Powder as their lives get flipped upside down. They face romantic encounters, along with death and violence as the story progresses, with the season eventually being left off on a massive cliffhanger that grabbed the attention of fans worldwide.
Since then, fans have long anticipated the release of season two. After act one’s release on Nov. 9, acts two and three were released on the following Saturdays, Nov. 16 and Nov. 23. Season two quickly answers questions pertaining to the preceding cliffhanger and detail strained romantic and familial relationships throughout the season. The soundtrack continues to impress fans, consisting of songs from popular artists such as Ashnikko, Twenty-One Pilots, Stray Kids and Young Miko, among others.
While fans thoroughly enjoyed the new season, they’ve found many parts of the ending to be inconclusive and cliffhangers in and of themselves. Thus, many people have begun constructing theories surrounding different characters like Jinx and Viktor as well as possible alternatives to the endings presented at face value. After years of no new content, the “Arcane” fandom is revived and thriving like never before.
Although the fandom continues to have lingering questions pertaining to the content and endings of season two, their reaction was largely positive, and fans hope to see a season three in the enthralling show’s future.
