The nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards, set to take place Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, were announced via a livestream, Nov. 8.
This highly anticipated award show nominated recordings released during the eligibility period of Sept. 16, 2023, through Aug. 30, 2024, celebrating the year’s most influential music. Since the announcement, fans are debating who will take home awards in the important “Big Four” categories: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.
The “Queen Bee,” Beyonce, has once again shown her legacy in the music industry, leading the 2025 Grammys with 11 nominations, making her officially possess the most Grammy nominations in history with 99 nominations. Beyonce’s genre switch to country on her latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” has been nominated for major categories including Album of the Year.
Ariana Grande’s most recent album, “Eternal Sunshine,” has failed to secure nominations in the “Big Four” Categories. Despite producing two Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits with “Yes, And?” and “We Can’t Be Friends,” many are surprised and disappointed that she wasn’t nominated for any major categories. While she didn’t make it to the top four, she did earn three nominations including Best Dance Pop Recording. With Ariana Grande only securing two Grammys in her career, her fans are hoping for success this upcoming year.
Pop music fans worldwide have seen Sabrina Carpenter’s impressive and rapid rise to stardom in the music industry, and her newfound popularity is being highlighted at the Grammys. Carpenter has received six remarkable Grammy nominations this year, four of which are in the “Big Four” categories. “Short n’ Sweet,” her hit album released in August of 2024, garnered a total of 233 million streams in just one week, making the album her most successful to date.
Chappell Roan, the 26-year-old singer and songwriter, has also taken the stage as one of this year’s fastest-rising stars. Her nominated album, “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” is dedicated to her younger self, a 10-year-old girl from the Midwest scared to be different from others. This communicated a strong message to listeners from all over, highlighting her unique expressions of self-love, her representation of the LGBTQ+ community and her relatable and emotional lyrical abilities. Both Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan have made exceptional achievements making fans excited to see where they take their fame and what else they have in store in terms of new projects and artistic pursuits.
Only time will tell to see which nominations will become winning Grammy awards.
