The future of filmmaking comes together at the school, teaching students the proper etiquette and technique of filmatography.
“I decided to join film since I love being able to capture memories cinematically,” senior Natalya Rivas said. “I always have that nostalgic feeling to everything I create so I love learning more about that.”
The school’s film program creates a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for all students, especially those who are interested in the career path. They can expand their knowledge and performance behind the camera as they are gaining new filmmaking skills.
“The class environment is really fun, and has furthered my interest in a film career,” senior Amanda Yniguez said. “We watch short films in class, and we always have a fun time laughing.”
As the classroom setting has become a place of comfort for students, they have an easier time expressing themselves through their work.
“The thing I enjoy the most about teaching my classes is having all my students share their stories through film,” film instructor Daniel Osorio said. “Their passionate voices really have the power to inspire their peers in so many ways by simply being who they are.”
The work students create are put on the new Youtube page, “ECRCHS Film,” allowing for others to get a closer look into what the program is about.
“I enjoy how much creative freedom we have and how much [Mr. Osorio] wants us to do our best possible,” Rivas said.
Students in film have a mutual enjoyment of the class and the way the content is taught to further their understanding of their work.
“I really appreciate the style [Mr. Osorio] teaches in,” Yniguez said. “We normally work on creating films or analyzing them, which I think helps us a lot for those who want a career in film.”
Osorio’s experience in the film industry allows him to understand the complexities of the program and how to properly prepare students for their potential career path.
“I teach everything from Music Videos to short films and everything in between,” Osorio said. “But what I really teach is inspiration…film is just the medium to express it.”
