The eventful Music Television (MTV) Video Music Awards (VMA) were hosted at the Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) Arena in New York, Sept. 11.
Fans watched from all over the world, waiting for their favorite celebrities to show up and reveal their designer outfits. Celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion and more were all in attendance.
Outfits play a big part in the whole event and fans are always ecstatic to see what their favorite artists will be wearing. A popular sight to see during the awards show was Taylor Swift and her yellow plaid Dior outfit. Fans were intrigued by the color choice and thought it had something to do with foreshadowing the release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version).” Speculations increased even more when Swift left the audience to change into a green and black miniature dress designed by MONSE, an intricate designer brand.
Similarly, Carpenter debuted a white dress, that was a vintage dress said to have been worn by Marilyn Monroe. Later that evening, during her performance, she changed into a short white, sparkly strapless dress just in time for her performance.
Such an important night in the music world had to feature some performances and that was exactly what was served. The audience received an ethereal performance from the angelic Sabrina Carpenter, featuring a mix between her hit songs, “Espresso,” “Please Please Please” and “Taste.”
Katy Perry had an outstanding performance in honor of her win for the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which highlighted her lengthy career of hit pop songs. New and rising artist, Chappell Roan, gave a fiery performance to her song, “Good Luck, Babe!” which got a nomination for Best New Artist. The performance featured an impressive knight in shining armor outfit for the singer herself, alongside other dancers on stage. Another impressive performance was from Benson Boone, who later won the award for Best Alternative Music, which featured a shocking series of backflips on stage, while he was singing.
With such an exciting night of awards and recognition, fans will be eagerly waiting for the next year’s event.
