After not having home football games for two years, the field’s construction has been completed, and the student section, the “Kingdom” has finally come to life.
“I would describe the Kingdom as a fun and joyful place for students to enjoy football games,” junior Sophie Levy-Wright said. “The environment’s fun, and when I go to the Kingdom, I have fun with my friends as we dance and listen to music.”
The students have created enthusiastic chants, uplifting school spirit and motivating the players. With more excitement for football games this year, many students have also participated in themes.
Honestly, the themes this year are better than last year because last year there were just color themes,” Levy-Wright said. “I think it’s great that everybody really dresses up for the event because it shows the support for the football team.”
Some recent themes that the Kingdom has created included blue, tropical, and neon out. Almost the entire student section was fully decked-out in the themes to show their support for the football team.
“[The Kingdom] has a lot more energy than most schools do,” senior Amanda Yniguez said. “I hear from other kids from other high schools and they say they have no one show up to their games, but we have a lot of students show up at ours.”
Since this is the first year of having a cohesive student section, the Kingdom has become more lively and exuberant. More students are able to attend since the home games are finally being held at a more convenient location, at school.
“My favorite part about The Kingdom is seeing how united our student body can be,” senior Rebecca Margolin said. “During the pep-rallies or our home games, it’s unbelievably rewarding to see our vision and planning become a reality.”
The “Knights of the Kingdom” is a committee of students and staff members who help create chants and themes, and other fun ideas to encourage student participation in the Kingdom. They share dates for the games on Instagram, along with the themes and cheers that students should know before attending.
“A big part of high school is being able to look back on cheesy things you did and laugh about them,” Margolin said. “Our goal is to leave a legacy on this school for years to come.”
